Luton Set to Host UK’s Largest Indoor Cricket Dome at Lewsey Park

Luton is set to become a national hub for grassroots cricket with the announcement of a £2.6 million investment to build the UK’s largest indoor cricket dome at Lewsey Park. Expected to open in summer 2026, the facility will provide year-round access to high-quality indoor training and playing space — a major milestone for clubs like Luton Caribbean Cricket Club (LCCC) and the wider local community.

The funding, confirmed by Luton Borough Council, is supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Sport England, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). While the dome is primarily designed for cricket, it will also support other sports such as tennis, badminton, and hockey.

This development is especially significant for clubs rooted in community and culture. For LCCC — with its proud Caribbean heritage and over 50 years of cricketing history in Luton — the dome represents a much-needed boost. It will allow players of all ages and backgrounds to train uninterrupted throughout the year, create opportunities to develop our youth and women’s programmes, and provide a space for hosting indoor tournaments and outreach events.

Crucially, the facility has a strong inclusion focus. Nationally, the ECB and Sport England are working to increase participation among under-represented groups, including women, girls, and ethnically diverse communities. As such, this dome has the potential to support not only performance but also community wellbeing and social cohesion through sport.

Construction is expected to begin soon, with completion projected for mid-2026. LCCC will be monitoring developments closely and actively exploring ways to integrate the new dome into our training, fixtures, and development plans.

This investment marks a bright future for cricket in Luton — and LCCC is ready to be a part of it.
